Udemy Business Pro Licenses

This article outlines how Udemy Business admins can assign and remove Udemy Business Pro licenses for learners.

Please note:

• You’ll need to have purchased Udemy Business Pro to assign Pro licenses.
• For customers who have acquired Pro licenses for all Udemy Business users, Pro licenses will be automatically assigned when invitations for Udemy Business are accepted. 
• For customers who have SSO/SCIM, Pro licenses will be automatically assigned when users authenticate via SSO/SCIM.
• For organizations who have acquired Udemy Business Pro licenses for all their users, these SCIM users will be provisioned a Udemy Business Pro license at the time of login.
• All SCIM users can have Pro licenses managed via the mechanisms outlined below.
• For customers who have Udemy Business Pro for some learners, but not all, a Udemy Business Pro license can be assigned to any active user or at the same time a UB license is assigned.
• Only admins can assign and remove Udemy Business Pro licenses. Admins can also assign (and unassign) a Udemy Business Pro license for admins and group admins, including themselves, if required.

How to assign Udemy Business Pro licenses

Admins can assign Udemy Business Pro licenses to users individually or in bulk (via CSV Import).  Please note that only admins can assign and remove Udemy Business Pro licenses.

Here’s how to assign a Pro license to an individual user:

1. Log into your Udemy Business account.

2. Select Manage Users from the Manage menu at the top of the screen.

3. Locate the user by entering their name or email address into the search tool, or by selecting via the checkbox.

4. Once you’ve located the user you wish to assign a Pro license, click the three vertical dots on the right side of their profile icon. You can also access these options on the user’s profile page.

5. Select Assign Pro license.

6. You will be presented with further instructions and information on what it means to assign a Pro license to a user before confirming assignment.

7. Click the Assign button.

8. The learner will receive an email notification, prompting them to log in and access the Udemy Business Pro features.

How to invite users and assign a Udemy Pro license via email 

You can also assign a Udemy Business Pro license using the checkbox when you are inviting new users to Udemy Business.  

1. After navigating to the Manage users page, click the Invite New Users button.

2. Next, click on Individual email addresses to invite people one by one.

• If you wish to add the user to a specific group, click the Add this user to a group checkbox. 
• Select the relevant groups.
• If you wish to assign a Udemy Business Pro license to the user, click the checkbox for ‘Pro license’ under Select License add on 
  • This will automatically give the selected learners access to Udemy Business Pro features when they accept their invitation to join Udemy Business

3. Finally, select the language you would like to issue your invitation in and add a custom message if you wish (please see below for more information).

How to assign Udemy Business Pro licenses via CSV Import 

If you wish to assign Udemy Business Pro licenses to more than one user, you can do so easily by importing a CSV file.

Automatic assignment of Pro licenses

• For customers who have acquired Pro licenses for all Udemy Business users, Pro licenses will be automatically assigned when invitations for Udemy Business are accepted. 
• Pro licenses will be automatically assigned when users authenticate via SSO/SCIM

How to Remove Udemy Business Pro licenses

1. Follow the steps outlined in the first section above to navigate to your Manage users page and to locate the user.

2. Once you’ve located the user you wish to remove a Pro license from, click the three vertical dots on the right side of their profile icon. You can also access these options on the user’s profile page.

3. Select Remove Pro license.

4. You will be presented with further instructions and information on what it means to remove a Pro license for a user before confirming.

5. Click the Remove button.

6. The learner will no longer have access to Udemy Business Pro features. They will still have access to Udemy Business. Additionally, Udemy Business Pro reporting will be retained for this user. If you wish to remove a user completely from your Udemy Business account, you can follow these instructions.

How to edit license type for pending invitations (users who have been sent an invitation email but have not accepted it yet) 

You can edit the type of license a user should be assigned by going to the Pending invitations page. In this case, admins can remove and assign a Pro license to a user before they accept their invitation. Click the three-dot menu to change the license type for a pending invitation.
