Udemy will be launching two new GenAI features by the end of 2024, the Udemy AI Assistant and Skills Mapping and AI-powered learning paths. These two GenAI features will first launch in English with additional languages to follow. The AI Assistant will be included as part of Enterprise Plan at no additional cost. Skills Mapping and AI-powered learning paths will be available as part of a limited free trial, and a fee may be required after the trial period. Udemy Business customers will be notified as these features become available.

Are these features available in other languages besides English?
Currently, the Udemy AI Assistant is only available in English. Learners must have their account language set to English in order to access the feature.

We have established policies and processes, including security and privacy reviews, in an effort to ensure the responsible development and use of AI. Udemy uses the minimum amount of data required to support a given use case and customers will be able to opt out of the AI Assistant and Skills Mapping and AI-powered learning paths features. Udemy will not use customer input, output, or personal data to improve the GenAI Features in any way that could result in that data being disclosed to any third party, including to train or fine-tune any GenAI models used for the GenAI Features, without Customer's prior consent.
How can I ensure these new tools are high-quality?
We’re committed to launching tools on Udemy that improve the overall experience for instructors, learners, and organizations. We have worked with Udemy instructors to evaluate the AI Assistant response quality. We will also be examining certain user metrics for both the AI Assistant and Skills Mapping and AI-powered learning paths to learn how engagement and time-spent learning are impacted. Additionally, we will be analyzing how users rate and interact with the output of these features over time to improve the experience.
Is Udemy Business Pro content (e.g. labs and assessments) included in learning recommendations made with GenAI?
Upon initial release, the AI Assistant’s recommendations will focus on course content. Customers with access to Udemy Business Pro can manually add assessments and labs to their resulting Skills Mapping and AI-powered learning path. Recommending Pro content is a capability that is being considered for 2025.
