How to upload a video
To upload a video to a course Video activity, community of practice, or the video library, follow these steps:
1. Choose the delivery type from the options listed.
-
- Udemy Business Leadership Academy Video: This is the platform’s video library. Udemy Business Leadership Academy Video enables organizations to securely and efficiently deliver high quality video within their courses and communities of practice.
- JW Player - Video: This third party host allows admins to host videos on a third party site and embed the video in a course activity, community of practice, and elsewhere using a code associated with the video in JW Player.
- External Web Page: This option is best if there are videos you want to use that are on an external site other than YouTube.
- Progressive Download: If your organization has an existing way to stream or store media, then this option can be used. When using this option, it's best if your video is in an .mp4 format. Progressive download means the video downloads to the user's computer—which also means buffering time for slower connections.
- YouTube: Embed a video from YouTube into a course, community of practice, and elsewhere.
2. Upload the video based on the selected Delivery Type
-
- Udemy Business Leadership Academy Video: Click Select a Video and upload a file that was already uploaded into the video library on your site. Alternatively, click Upload video to upload a video file from your computer. With the latter option, you will be asked to provide a video title and description, as well as the Organization (i.e. community of practice) to store the video. These will not be displayed wherever the video is being utilized. This information is only used in the video library.
- JW Player - Video: To use this option, first get the code (Video ID) from JW Player. Then, after selecting JW Player as the Delivery Type in the platform, enter the Video ID. Tip: Always check the videos from the learner view to ensure it’s formatted properly.
- External Web Page: To use this option, simply choose the External Web Page option under Delivery Type. Then, copy the URL of the video into the corresponding text box in the video upload section. Be cautious, however, as videos are sometimes later removed from websites, causing the link to be “broken” and unavailable when a learner attempts to watch.
- Progressive Download: Enter your file link and learners will be able to download the video.
- YouTube: Enter the URL to the video and the video will be embedded in the corresponding platform page.
3. Click Save at the bottom of the page
